Final Drawing of 2015! This time I decided to go with a white background. I'm not convinced that I like the look of white backgrounds, but at least on this one I saved 5 hours of scrubbing in a black background. Happy New Year!

This drawing took me much longer to complete than anticipated. The paper I was using happened to be a rougher version of Hot Pressed than normal. A great deal of time was spent filling in all of the tiny holes all over the drawing. It created a nice effect in many places to have the rougher paper showing through, but it took so long that next time I'll take better care to choose smoother paper in the art store.

Here is another figure drawing mixed with pastel that I have been doing lately. I plan to do many more of these in the future, but this will be the last for awhile due to the move. I have only 2 more commissions to post before a possible 2-3 month delay.

Materials used: Wolff's Carbon Pencil, Rembrandt Soft Pastel, Arches 300lbs Watercolor Paper (Hot Pressed).

My original plan for this drawing was to have green cloth. I realized, when I went to apply the color, that I didn't have any green other than neon or forest camouflage. I think that dark blue was a much better fit for this piece.

Materials used: Wolff's Carbon Pencil, Rembrandt Soft Pastel, Arches 300lbs Watercolor Paper (Hot Pressed).

This drawing has taken me far longer than it should have. The background, unchanged from the original design, was re-drawn about 6 times. I really need to spend more time practicing landscapes. I have a few more drawing commissions lined up, so more drawings coming in the near future.

For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to do more than just one floating head on a small canvas. Instead I'm now working on a large canvas with 11 figures. The daily painting will resume in a week. But don't expect to see this painting again anytime soon, I anticipate it taking a month or two to finish.
