Ava and Emma 24" x 30" Gold Leaf and Carbon Pencil on Paper www.jphfinearts.net
Another piece that took a very long time to complete. I always tell myself I'm going to work smaller, and then in the planning stage the drawing gets bigger and bigger and the final product takes me weeks to finish. The result in this one is great though, I don't think it would have been as good if it were half the size.
I successfully attached a piece of paper to a birch panel without any problems. In contrast to my attempt last year with the painting"Dreaming" where I had to pull, scrape, and sand off 2 large pieces of paper before getting the 3rd to work.
My son thinks this large panel is for him to draw on. He says I'm joking when I tell him it's for one of my drawings.

I'm trying to do some smaller still lives for practice. I haven't decided if I will continue to do these little practices with or without the gold leaf. I'll just need to experiment more on these smaller canvases and see if it is actually viable.
I start every drawing the a detailed cartoon transferred onto the paper, then the gold leaf is laid down. The drawing needs to be perfect at this stage because I won't be able to move the gold around once the drawing gets started.
